In an effort to collect as many visual resources as possible, thirteen Art Textiles students set off on a whistle stop tour of our local sights and attractions. The Year 10 students have just begun the first of two projects that will account for 60% of the GCSE. Students have been given different themes, ranging from ‘Floral’, ‘Timepiece’ and ‘Star Signs’.
Starting off at Lesnes Abbey our budding artists collected countless images of flora and fauna in a bid to inspire them once back in the classroom. Some even collected the real thing!
A quick stop for lunch and then it was off to Maryon Wilson Park. As well as trees and plants, a range of animals were spotted. Deer, goats and a peacock to name a few.
The day ended at Royal Arsenal. Posing with the statues, looking across the river and admiring the city skyline. Keep an eye on the display board outside Art 3 titled ‘A page from my sketch book’ to see the work is inspired by this trip.
