Recently a group of twelve Year 10 pupils from St Paul`s Academy attended a quad-bike testing session in conjunction with Archways Vocational College in Thamesmead. Pupils had a fantastic day in Essex where they tested the very bikes that they have been working on over the last 6 weeks. Pupils are currently adding to the 10 + AQA accredited qualifications they have already gained in Motor Mechanics and Food Technology. Pupils are developing key trade and craft skills which are essential for apprenticeships and industry. Such life skills would otherwise be left untapped within the constraints of the traditional curriculum.
After the success of our recently forged partnership with The Archways Project last year, management in St Pauls Academy have made significant investments to ensure that we can continue to provide alternatives to traditional subjects and continue our link with The Archways Project. The importance of Vocational Education has long been stressed by the Senior Leadership Team at SPA. Such an initiative highlights the total inclusivity of SPA in providing high quality, individualised learning for all pupils and is something we as a school are very proud of.
We hope our Year 10 students continue to enjoy their studies at Archways Vocational College and look forward to seeing them in the driving seat of their very own vehicles as well as their own futures.
