SPA’s Annual Music Festival
The 9th Annual St. Pauls Academy Music Festival took place on the week of the 9th of July.
The week-long festival celebrated the love and passion students in the academy have for Music and performing.
As in previous years, students were treated to a number of live performances in the assembly hall. This year, we were lucky enough to have created a great connection with East London Academy of Music (ELAM) through one of our past pupils. This student got in contact to help bring some amazing, up and coming talent to St Paul’s to perform for us. We are delighted to have this connection with ELAM, with two more of our musically talented students taking up positions at the college this academic year.
A capacity Assembly hall sung, danced and clapped along to the Music artists as they wowed us with their outstanding talents.
To round off the week in style, we had our Talent show day. Friday the 12th, brought about an amazing showcase of the talent here in St. Paul’s Academy. A range of Instrument categories from Voice to Piano and even Battle of the Band’s led to an outstanding winner’s finale in the afternoon where our participants awed the audience of students and teachers.
The Judges had a difficult decision in choosing our winners but the 9th Annual St. Paul’s Young Musicians of the year 2018 was awarded to Joshua Robinson and Ben Watts.
The current Y11 students are studying GCSE Music and shocked the audience with their own original composition. The music was produced by Ben with some hard hitting lyrics written by Joshua which provided the students with a winning song. The song entitled “Pain” was the talk of staff and students for many days to follow.
The Music Department would like to extend our sincere thanks to all performers, participants and staff for the support throughout the week. Here’s to a bigger and better festival next summer, to help celebrate the 10th year of the Academy’s Music Festival.
