Year 9 students at St Paul’s Academy have been incredible ambassadors to the year group with 14 of them applying to be student council members. Their role will be to suggest improvements to the academy, provide a student voice for their peers and be an integral component of the decision-making for their pastoral zone.
This is an important aspect of the Catholic ethos of the school by encouraging students to be stewards of their school community as well as providing an important feature to place on their CV for college and university.
SPA Year 9 students interviewing for a school council position on Friday 1st November. From the left: Aliyah, Shanae, Tanveer and Funminiyi.
Students were interviewed by Mr Davis and Ms McNamara and were asked to perform up to a 3 minute speech on why they were the right candidate for the role, what would they change about the school and how they would do this. All students performed incredible and will make it a hard choice to whittle the numbers down to only three successful students.
From the left: Patrick, Abu, Warith, Palak, Navreet, Ebe and Blessing interview on Thursday 31st October.
The successful candidates will be announced shortly and will have a measurable impact to the school community. Congratulations to all students who have interviewed and those students will be taken on a reward trip this November.
